We’re currently looking for a linux sys-admin to run our Gentoo based web-servers.
Check out the listing on Seek.
The position will be responsible for looking after our client services as well as contributing to the development of new solutions. It’s a good opportunity to get paid to work in support of an open-source initiative that has some real potential, and it would suit someone who wants to grow with the business side of Omnium.

Rick and I will be presenting at the the Icograda World Design Congress in Havana, Cuba on the 21st October. If anyone is going to be there, drop us a line as it would be nice to see some familiar faces (or e-mail addresses).
Then on November 16th I’ll be giving a Social Learning Masterclass at Northumbria University on the topic of Developing and Facilitating Online Creative Collaboration. I suspect it’s an internal Northumbria University affair, but if you’d like to come along I can pass on your details to the organisers.

I just noticed TalkBean on the Museum of Modern Betas. It’s basically a marketplace for tutors and students - the idea being that the two match up and the student pays for some online tutoring. It’s a shame that it’s webcam and headset as a set-up, because that really limits the type and style of tutoring and it looks like it might feel a bit like a learning helpdesk. But it is interesting in the sense that it really operates in that long tail market and outside of any institutions. It’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Rick Bennett and I will be presenting the Creative Waves 2007 VIP project at Icograda’s World Design Congress Education Network Conference in Havana, Cuba on the 20th October.
I’m not sure how many readers of this blog are going to be able to make it there, but if you are going there get in touch and say hello. It should be an interesting few days.
